Zustand: Good. New Edition. 138 pages. No dust jacket. Brown cloth covered boards. Pages have mild tanning and foxing throughout, moderate at end-papers, paste-downs and text-block edges. Minor pencil marking to front free end-paper. Some occasional mild cracking to gutters throughout however binding remains reasonably firm. Boards have heavy edge-wear with bumping to corners, crushing to spine ends and rub wear all over. Hole to front joint cloth. Cloth has minor damp and dust stains.

Soft cover. Zustand: Good. c. 1891. 10 p. 12 cm. Paper leaflet with a few tears at bottom edges and a little light soiling. Hunter's tract refutes seven reasons for not being a Christian, explains the way to Christ. Rear cover provides 20 "Birthday Resolutions" and provides date of July 29, 1891.

Zustand: Good+. 4th Ed., but possibly reprint. ix (prelims,not all paginated)+155+9 (1875 pub.list, p.9 being laid onto rear pastedown), another list is laid on fr.pastedown and repeated, with printed verso, after browned fr.free endpaper, the t.p. is headed 'Civil Service Examinations' and the book was 'specially designed to facilitate preparation' for these, as t.p. also notes, internally clean, tight & unmarked bar the odd brown spot. Blind-stamped black cloth covers clean and minimally worn except for chip to 1.5 cms top spine and cloth split down back joint for a further 2.5 cms, sl.rubbing further down this joint and bottom sp., which has only a very small chip. Spine condition effectively reduces rating from VG to Good+. Pub. list date suggests publication date of 1874 or 1875. Uncommon.

He states that his 'Boswelliana', which was 'published at a guinea can be got for twelve shillings', and that 'a bookseller has undertaken to hunt for 'A Century of Scottish Life' which has long been sold off; it will cost you six shillings - six was the original price.' After forwarding the address of Sabine Baring-Gould he states that he is 'now living in Edinburgh at the above address'.
