Alfred Rimmer (1829-1893) was an architect, travel writer and illustrator. In this work, he provides a history of the ancient streets and domestic architecture of England, which he has illustrated with 150 drawings, engraved by J. D. Cooper. A charming work with an introduction by the Very Rev. J. S. Howson. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally sound, with a small stain to the front board and some fading to the spine. Shelf wear to the extremities and head and tail of the spine. Hinges are strained but remain firm.
