Small 8vo, viii + 144pp. + 84pp. +15pp. The first three issues of 'Our Own Magazine', or 'Children's Friend' bound in ornately gilt dark brown morocco, slightly worn to all edges and corners. Edges of text block gilt. Very light foxing on preliminaries. Front fly leaves bear an ink inscription in the most elegant and precise of penmanship, dated 1852, pertaining to the presentation of the book to its original owner, a Mr. 'H. Templeton' by the Committee of the Juvenile Abstinence Union of Scotland before his departure for Australia. A beautiful, near-fine copy.
