Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Jet black hair, porcelain skin, bright red lips and fingernails; figures gazing intensely into the camera; young men and women posing acrobatically with bizarre props; animals and plants in the glaring light of the camera's flash, situated in urban landscapes, private spaces, or in nature, among rice fields, lotus ponds, and cacti Ren Hang's photographs are painfully provocative, but also inward looking and dreamily surreal. Ren Hang depicts the human body as an abstract form, often in idiosyncratic arrangements and perspectives, combining iconic images of William Shakespeare's dying Ophelia in a river; of Leda, daughter of a Greek king, and the Swan; and of female nudes seen from behind using a distinctive visual vocabulary that draws on abstraction, Surrealism, Dada, and both historic and contemporary photography. Ren Hang's analog photographs use a playful, humorous visual language to relate the feelings, desires, fears, and loneliness of a young generation in China.

Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. 1st Edition. The first hardback monograph from Ren Hang, the controversial avant-garde photographer from China. A curation of the photographer's most interesting and often provocative early work presented in an extra large format clothbound hardcover book. Originally from Chang Chun in the Jilin province of Northeastern China, Ren Hang (1987-2017) was a poet and photographer living and working in Beijing. Deliberately provocative, Ren Hang's images challenged conventional codes of morality in a still highly conservative society. The explicit nature of Ren Hang's photography often made it difficult for galleries in his homeland to mount exhibitions of his work. Despite this, his images have been exhibited widely; with several solo shows in China and internationally in countries including USA, Germany, Japan, Italy, France, Russia, Israel and Sweden. Number 117 of 460 copies.

paperback. Zustand: Perfetto (Mint). Prima edizione (First Edition). 129 fotografie a colori di Ren Hang Design: Elf-19, Peiyu Shen. 4to. pp. 144. . Perfetto (Mint). . Prima edizione (First Edition). . Book.

hardcover. Zustand: As New. . Perfetto (Mint). . Prima ed. di 500 esemplari (I ed. of 500 copies). . Book.

Ren Hang was born in 1987 in Chang Chun, Jilin province, in Northeastern China, a region known as the Detroit of China due to the size of its automobile industry. He left his hometown for Beijing, aged 17, to study advertising. He began to stage nude photographs of his friends as a way to relieve the boredom he felt while studying at college. The Chinese government actively and routinely censored Hang's work, his photographs were defaced at Beijing exhibitions or confiscated by officials, and his website was often taken down. Ren Hang took his own life in 2017. He was 29.

Perfekter Zustand! Sammler-Exemplar! (Verlagstext) Sprache: Englisch Gewicht in Gramm: 1600.

In den WarenkorbFirst edition, number 26 of 500 copies only, of the first photobook by this provocative Chinese photographer. Taking as their subject the naked human body, Ren Hang's compositions "are instantly recognizable. His subjects' poses are extraordinarily beautiful: provocative, almost pornographic at times, yet impeccably choreographed, never vulgar, conveying the intensity of emotion between model and photographer" ("The Legacy"). Born in Changchun, Ren (1987-2017) specialized in provocative challenges to the taboos of contemporary Chinese society. "At the core of Ren's aesthetic lies the simple joy to be found in capturing the magic in the mundane. Yet, his seemingly minimal approach to image-making belies the complex technical and intellectual processes behind it" ("The Legacy"). "The Legacy of Ren Hang", Frieze, available online. Quarto. Photographs throughout. Original pictorial boards. In original shrink wrap, numbered "26" in black marker as issued. A fine copy, the shrink wrap with a minor perforation in one place.
