After service with the Royal Flying Corps, and later with the Royal Air Force, Brie took employment with the Cierva Autogiro Company as a test pilot and demonstrator, showing the capabilities of the the Autogiro to the public and trade figures. In 1933 he was convicted of "low and dangerous flying" in an autogiro over the Kingston Bypass road, and in 1935 he became the first pilot to land and take off.
