This is an incredibly rare, original 19th-century handwritten manuscript poem signed by the legendary Welsh poet, author, and Congregational minister William Rees, who wrote under the famous bardic name Gwilym Hiraethog. Written on a single sheet of stationery bearing a red stamped crest with the Latin motto "LEGIBUS ANTIQUIS" (By ancient laws), this document features a short, original poetic stanza written entirely in Welsh. Titled in English, "Addressed to a particular friend," the poem is a beautifully penned example of Hiraethog's enduring literary legacy. Because original handwritten manuscripts by prominent 19th-century Welsh bards are exceptionally scarce on the market, this piece is a highly desirable artifact for collectors of Celtic literature, Welsh history, and religious poetry.
