Clean pages, with no owners' marks, though with some toning at endpapers and edges; square, securely sewn binding, the full black cloth hard cover showing only a little softening at spine ends and corners; dust jacket is priceclipped and bears toning along the spine, some grayish smudging near the spine heel, a very small open tear at the spine head, and a short wrinkle at the top front, but remains overall sound and well-kept, now protected in a clear sleeve. xiv, 591, xvi pp. incl. index. Further proving not only the guilt of Wise, a famous bibliographer and book collector who forged numerous documents and books, but also the accessory of H. Buxton Forman and Sir Edmund Gosse. This collection provides further proof of one of the most outsized and outlandish true crimes in all the world of books.
