Disbound. Zustand: Poor. Raphael Sanzio (illustrator). A collection of ten plates by the Italian artist Raphael Sanzio. Disbound volume with ten plates. Raphael Sanzio, usually known by his first name alone (in Italian Raffaello) (April 6 or March 28, 1483 April 6, 1520), was an Italian painter and architect of the High Renaissance, celebrated for the perfection and grace of his paintings and drawings. Together with Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci he forms the traditional trinity of great masters of that period. Raphael was enormously productive, running an unusually large workshop, and, despite his early death at thirty-seven, a large body of his work remains, especially in the Vatican, whose frescoed Raphael Rooms were the central, and the largest, work of his career, although unfinished at his death. After his early years in Rome, much of his work was designed by him and executed largely by the workshop from his drawings, with considerable loss of quality. He was extremely influential in his lifetime, though outside Rome his work was mostly known from his collaborative printmaking. After his death the influence of his great rival Michelangelo was more widespread until the 18th and 19th centuries, when Raphael's more serene and harmonious qualities were again regarded as the highest models. The volume is disbound with no title page. The pages are generally slightly water-stained and slightly age-toned. Poor. book.

Les deux premières parties ont été chacune signées et numérotées à l'encre par l'éditeur en face de la page de titre (N° 91 / 99). Le papier est légèrement à fortement taché de brun partout, la partie Sanzio est plus touchée. Les panneaux pliants présentent de petits défauts dans les plis. État globalement satisfaisant. --- Pappband der Zeit, insgesamt randbestoßen und berieben, der gelöste Rücken liegt bei. 48 Textseiten mit Tafel 1 (Porträt Zampieri), gefolgt von den Tafeln 2 - 60 sowie 8 Seiten Tafelverzeichnis / 4 Blatt, Tafel 61 - 120 (Tafel 119 fehlt, liegt aber in KOPIE bei), Seiten 9-14 des Tafelverzeichnisses / 2 Blatt, Tafeln 126 - 236, 3 davon doppelblattgroß und teils ausfaltbar. Die beiden ersten Teile wurden jeweils gegenüber des Titelblattes vom Herausgeber in Tinte signiert und numeriert ( No. 91 / 99 ). Durchgehend ist das Papier schwach bis stärker braunfleckig, der Teil Sanzio ist stärker betroffen, die Falttafeln mit kleinen Fehlstellen in den Falzen. Insgesamt befriedigender Zustand. Stahlstich v. Hoffmeister n. einem Selbstbildnis b. B.I., um 1850, 12,8 x 10,1 (H) Raffael erlangte vor allem als Maler für seine harmonischen und ausgewogenen Kompositionen und lieblichen Madonnenbilder Berühmtheit. Zu Lebzeiten genoss er das Privileg, nur unter seinem Vornamen bekannt zu sein und noch heute kennen die wenigsten seinen Nachnamen. Bis weit ins 19. Jahrhundert hinein galt er als größter Maler aller Zeiten. Neben seiner Laufbahn als Maler in Florenz und am päpstlichen Hof in Rom wurde er auch Bauleiter des Petersdoms und Aufseher über die römischen Antiken.
