Softcover. Zustand: Good. [12] pp., 8vo, string-tied sheets. Lacking the black card wrapper. Possibly an off-print from Melbert Cary's Bibliography of the Village Press, published by the Press of the Woolly Whale in 1938, in which this item appears with the same layout (other than the title page), even though dated 1937. The last page states "100 copies - August 1937. This one for David M. Glixon. Will Ransom." Glixon was a longtime bookman (publishing, author, poet) who lived in Ardsley, New York, not that far from the last location of the Village Press in Marlborough, New York. A fine, clean copy otherwise, but without the wrapper.

Octavo, 1 half-sheet, soft creases. This is a letter to Edward Martin Moore, of The Pony Barn Press at Warrenville, Illinois, discussing some borrowed private press material, and how to handle it differently in the future. 3 paragraphs. There is a holographic, two-line postscript about the Prairie Press, signed by Ransom. This is, no doubt, Carroll Coleman's Prairie Press at Iowa City.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'Private Presses and Their Books,' is a comprehensive and authoritative exploration of the private press movement, meticulously compiled by Will Ransom. This seminal work serves as both a narrative history and a definitive bibliography, documenting the aesthetic and philosophical underpinnings of small-scale, artisanal printing. Ransom traces the evolution of the private press from its Renaissance roots through the influential revivals of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The volume provides detailed accounts of various presses, examining their dedication to high-quality typography, fine paper, and exceptional binding.
