Ramsay's very popular account of the Revolution in a later unusual imprint, taken, the author informs us, from papers Ramsay studied while serving in the Continental Congress (1782,1783, 1785 and 1786). His account extends to institution of the Constitution and Washington's inauguration. This and Ramsay's History of the Revolution in South Carolina were the first books granted copyright by Congress. Volume II has a second title page on page 369; "Biographical Memoirs of Gen. George Washington, First President of the United States. Containing The Principal Events of His Life, With His Speeches to Congress, and Public Addresses. Zustand: very good. Scarce full signature on a slip of paper "David Ramsay", mounted to a larger sheet. Evenly toned and in very good condition. American physician and politician who is best remembered for being captured by the British in his native South Carolina. After his release he served in the Continental Congress (1782 - 1783) and became one of the first major historians of the American Revolutionary War.
