Gilt decorated board edges. Red speckled page edges. Front joint of Volume II is cracked but board is securely attached. Wear to ends of spines. Tear to leather on front board of Volume I. Good solid bindings. Very clean text with just a little light foxing and a few light marks. Engraved frontis by Grison to both volumes. Volume II includes the 'Letter from Mr. Freret', with text in the original French with English translation on facing pages. Numerous attractive headpieces, tailpieces and historiated capitals. Originally published in French as 'Les Voyages de Cyrus' in 1727. This is the second English language edition with Volume I dated 1727 and Volume II dated 1728. Scarce. ESTC: T121199.
