In den WarenkorbFine Binding. Zustand: Fine. None (illustrator). A collection of Scots poetry, mostly taken from the Bannatyne Manuscript by Allan Ramsay. Rebound in a beautiful morocco binding. A pocket sized volume, comprising of several poems pre 1600. Nearly all the pieces to this work were adapted from the sixteenth century Bannatyne Manuscript. This manuscript is an important source for the Scots poetry of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Bannatyne was the collector of this work, to which he added some of his own writing. Ramsay compiled several extracts from this work for 'The Ever Green' as an attempt to reaffirm interest in older national literature. Notable poems to this work include Ramsay's version of 'Christ's Kirk' and a pastiche by Ramsay called 'The Vision'. To the rear there is an explanation of the Scots words. This is volume II of II only. Lacking volume I. ESTC No. T144558. A beautifully bound, and well preserved collection of old Scots poetry. In a full morocco binding. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear. Stamp to the recto of front endpaper, 'John Fricker Library'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with just the odd spots to pages. Fine. book.
