Rebound in modern burgundy mottled faux-leather boards, with gilt lettering on the front covers, gilt lettering and ruling on the spines. Edges of the book block in red. Title pages bordered with small woodcut motifs. The first printed edition of this commentary on the Talmudic tractate Bava Batra by famed mediaeval Spanish Rabbi Meir Abulafia (aka 'The Ramah', c. 1170 1244). The work is one of only three surviving parts (Tractates Bava Batra, Sanhedrin and Kidushin, plus the fourth chapter of Tractate Gittin) from his larger series of his Talmudic commentaries, known as Yad Ramah (meaning "Hand of the Ramah", or "The Upraised Hand"). The final section of the second volume contains Shiyur Shitah Mekubetset (with its own title page), a subsequent commentary on the work by Rabbi Bezalel Ashkenazi (c. 1520 c. 1592) and an approbation at the start of the first volume by editor Yosef Elia Halevi. The first volume includes a few illustrated figures and diagrams on leaf 123. Text throughout in Hebrew, printed in Rashi script in a two column format. Bindings with minor rubbing, bumping and damp staining to the corners. Minor scratches and smudges to the covers. Title page in volume one torn along the left margin. Gebonden in een rode half lederen band in maroquin leder, titel in goudopdruk op rug, platten met gemarmerd papier, alle originele omslagen méé ingebonden. Onafgesneden exemplaren. Zéér mooie komplete set van dit Vlaams literaire avant-garde tijdschrift. Bevat o.a. een artikel van Meylander ( pseudonym van P.G. Van Hecke) over de DADA beweging.

Leipzig, Insel-Verlag, 1913, large in-4°, 34 cm, 63 pp + 15 fill-page engravings. The engravings are protected with a serpente paper. On the opposite page of each engraving the same image, but mirrored, is printed in sepia-toned lithography. Bound in publisher's buckram, with gilt lettering on the front cover. Uncut copy, except top edge which is gilt. With the original dustwrapper. Printed by Drugulin in Leipzig in 250 numbered copies. (nr. 198). Finely preserved copy without foxing. The dustwrappershows some tiny damage at the spine (no loss of paper). The first paste-down with the first fly-leave show a small rectangular discoloration due to the insertion of a small loose label (no more present). Apart from these remarks: an exceptionally fine copy. The engraver-illustrator Henry Ramah (real name Henri Ramaeker) (1887-1947) was a member of the Brussels' art group ''La Libre esthétique''. In these engravings his early impressionist style gave way to images with sometimes very strong expressionist tendencies. After the war he became one of the first in Belgium to adhere to cubism.
