This issue contains community gossip relating to the communes, as well as a printing of the poem "Give All to Love," by Ralph Waldo Emerson. The Oneida community, established by Noyes, was a 19th century religious commune advocating communal living and free love, among other tenets. FAIR condition. Heavy chipping and tearing along the extremities, with a few large pieces missing at the lower corners resulting in loss of text to the first two leaves. Center horizontal fold crease present. Los problemas de la filosofía tradicional, según Emerson, provienen de la relación entre el espíritu y la materia. Y para resolverlos Emerson, como un idealista objetivo, defiende que la naturaleza es el símbolo del espíritu y el principio supremo sintético del ser es la supra-alma. Por eso, Emerson propone una nueva espiritualidad basada en la intuición y en una fusión mística con la naturaleza. Tomando como punto de partida la autoconfianza y la capacidad innata del individuo, éste no necesita de milagros, ni de jerarquías religiosas o de ningún intermediario para relacionarse con Dios. La intuición, es según Emerson \"el más alto poder del Alma\" y el fundamento del conocimiento. De esta forma, todo conocimiento está limitado a nuestra propia aproximación a lo real. A esta filosofía espiritual se le llamó trascendentalismo, por ser una vía intuitiva basada en la capacidad de la conciencia individual, que trascendía sin necesidad de milagros, jerarquías religiosas o intermediarios y según ésta el conocimiento del universo está más allá del alcance de nuestros sentidos.
