Collated complete. Railton (1857-1910) was an English artist and one of the leading book and magazine illustrators of his time. In this work, the Dean of Gloucester H. D. M. Spence, provides a history of the Norman dukes until William the Conqueror, and their later decline; he also explores the history and architecture of Gloucester Cathedral, and life as a Benedictine monk. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally very smart, with slight wear to the head and tail of the spine and light rubbing in places. A minor mark to the front board.
