From the preface: The inventorisation and documentation of indigenous flora is an essential prerequisite for formulating effective conservation strategies. Keeping this in view, the Department of Forests, Haryana has approached Botanical Survey of India to prepare a database of plant wealth occurring in Sultanpur National Park, also one of the important Bird sanctuaries in northern part of India located in Gurgaon. The Botanical Survey of India, Northern Regional Centre has carried out intensive and extensive field tours and collected more than 700 specimens, which were identified, studied and documented. The flora of Sultanpur National Park covers an area of about 1.5 km2 representing semi-arid forest, wetlands and grasslands. The flora of the park comprises 151 taxa of angiosperms belonging to 129 genera under 54 families. In addition to these 23 species of algae 17 species of wood-rotting fungi, 2 species of pteridophytes are also recorded. The floristic account of the park area represents currently accepted name of the species with brief description along with their habitat, local name, and uses, if any. Further, almost all the species are provided with their colour photographs for easy identification by the forest management authorities and the visiting tourists as well.
