So gelingt es den Vögeln, sich durch vereinte Kräfte samt dem Netz in die Lüfte zu erheben und dem Jäger davon zu fliegen. Eine Maus zernagt schließlich das Netz und befreit die Tauben. Das alles wird von einem Raben beobachtet, der sich nun anschickt, die Maus als seine Freundin zu gewinnen. Im weiteren Verlauf der Tierfabel gelingt es der entstehenden Gemeinschaft der Tiere, sich immer wieder durch gegenseitige Hilfe aus den Fängen des Jägers zu befreien. Dabei setzt ein jedes Tier seine besonderen Fähigkeiten ein. Die Geschichte mahnt die Menschen, dabei die kleinen und schwachen Tiere" zum Vorbild, zu Hilfsbereitschaft und Solidarität.
