A fine original colour lithograph from Vanity Fair, a magazine which was published from 1869-1914, featuring a large caricature portrait each week. These were drawn by various artists, the most famous of whom was Leslie Ward who used the 'nom de crayon' of "Spy". This portrait will come mounted/matted and ready to frame using archivist quality materials, mount size 18 x 12 inches, 47 x 31 cms. It will be presented in a cellophane wrapper with our label guaranteeing authenticity. We pack very well, between sheets of hardboard. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a portrait of Sir Thomas Salter Pyne, with the caption ''Afghan engineering.'' One page of biographical details.

Each illustration is accompanied by a description, plus notes on trade in the county, history and owners of noteable estates. Scare in this edition.

One of the most famous colour plate books showing the scenes of London from the early 19th century. Il primo piano è animato da un gruppo di persone che conferisce alla composizione un caratteristico valore pittoresco. Lungo la sponda opposta si riconosce il profilo di Villa Geno, mentre lungo la sponda occidentale del primo bacino sembre riconoscersi il complesso di Villa Olmo, mentre in lontananza l'abitato di Cernobbio.

Il titolo della veduta potrebbe trarre in inganno e far pensare ad una rappresentazione di Laveno, infatti nel corpus della stampa in basso a sinistra si legge "Luveno / lake Maggiore".ma ad un attenta analisi ci si accorge che la raffigurazione non può che corrispondere a quella della cittadina di Luino.
