Zustand: new. Pages: 304 Language: Estonian. Toimus see ju meie iseseisvusaja alguses. See reis süstis minu veenidesse julget pealehakkamist. - Uku Randmaa, soolopurjetaja 9789985361580.…

In 1870, the perceived distance between St. Petersburg and Tallinn shrank as the cities became linked by the railway. When railway company co-owner and journalist Tiit Pruuli came across a Russian railway map dating from 1894, it occasioned a new look at the old line. His trips to archives ofter us interesting details about both the narrow and wide-gauge railway, but we learn even more about the railways - and the trains, depots, bridges and station buildings - by talking to the people who work on the railway or live along it. These are people whose lives have been changed by the railway, people who love the iron steeds. It is not by chance that people romanticize the rails as no one does bus or plane travel. Yes, it is amazing how these old tracks, sleeping cars and smoking engines can give rise to lyricism and romance.…
