Son épouse, pour sauver celui qu'elle aime, choisit la seconde solution.L'infortunée se trouve ainsi obligée de partager la vie des prostituées dans la " Rue des Bouches-Peintes " mais, comme elle n'accepte de se vendre à aucun client, son attitude éveille l'intérêt puis la sympathie d'un journaliste français qui l'aidera à la fois à échapper à son mari - qui meurt dans une crise de folie - et à retrouver Jack, son amant. Edition originale illustrée par de nombreuses photos en noir, extraites du film de Robert Vernay, sorti en 1955, avec dans les rôles principaux Francoise Christophe, Henri Genès, Paul Bernard.
