This is edition eighteen and nineteen which dates it to approximately 1930. Grey cloth covers with painting of flowers and gilt lettering. The edges are worn - particularly on the top of the spine. The text and illustrations are clean and unmarked.

In overall very good condition, green cloth boards with pictorial front cover show a little wear to corners and edges and the usual minor signs of handling and storage. Binding tight, no annotations, text and stunning illustrations crisp and clean throughout. Small inscription - To the Embroideress - on front free end-paper, so neat that it could be printed. Lovely book in great condition, the colour plates are worth the price of admission alone!

There are 24 full page, full colour chromolithograph plates portraying the flowers of 207 Alpine plants and another 2 plates in b&w. The full title of the book is: Coloured Vade-Mecum to the Alpine Flora, with 207 coloured and 10 plain alpine flowers, and it was compiled by L. Schroter and Prof. Dr. C. Schroter. This small hard cover book (5 ½ x 8 ¼ inches, about 50 pages) was published by Verlag von Albert Raustein of Zurich, and is undated but I estimate the date to be about 1900. This edition, the Twentieth and Twenty-First Edition, according to the title page, is bound in light tan cloth boards with bright and attractive colour illustrations on the cover and white titles on spine and cover. It is protected by two dust jackets, one in blue with color decorations and in plain brown paper. The text is given in English, French and German. The chromolithograph plates are those produced by Werner und Winter of Frankfurt, exceptionally vibrant and well done and a real tour de force of chromolithography! Condition: This book is in very good condition. The outer dust jacket, in blue, shows some edge wear, including a small chip at the top of the spine and some loss of finish on the spine. The second, plain dust jacket also has some very slight edge wear, seen mainly at the corners and spine tips. You will not be surprised to learn that with two dust jackets, the hard covers are very good. There has been some light bumping to the corners and the white titles on the spine have flaked off a bit. The color image on the cover is a work of art! Inside the book is unmarked and the pages and plates are bright and presentable. There has been some slight shadowing of the heavy color inks of the chromolithographs on the facing pages but nothing too severe. The hinges are fully intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
