The text was originally published as the limited-edition The Middle Parts of Fortune in 1929 and encapsulates the experiences of ordinary soldiers during the First World War. In publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart with slight bumping and rubbing, leading to minor loss of cloth at head and tail of spine, and noticeable marking to boards. Internally, generally firmly bound with binding a little fragile in places, namely to pages 112-113, 160-161 and 208-209. Bright and clean with the odd spot, heavier to the first and last few pages. Very Good. book.

Her Privates We was published the previous year as The Middle Part of Fortune which was subsequently revised with obscenities partially removed for the present edition. Frederic Manning is generally recognised as one of the finest novelist of the Western Front. Born in Australia, novelist and poet, Frederic Manning moved to England in his youth. He served in the Shropshire Light Infantry in 1915, and in France during 1916 as a Private 19022a . The Shropshires saw heavy fighting on the Somme and his experiences provided the background to Her Privates We. A classic book of World War I written from the ordinary soldier's point of view. Original cloth illustrated boards with clean contents. The glassine jacket has a rear across the spine are.
