Sinds 11 september 2001 zijn door moslimterroristische aanslagen wereldwijd meer dan achtduizend doden gevallen. Ook Nederland bleef moslimterreur niet bespaard. In dit boek staat centraal hoe en waarom de daders tot die aanslagen overgingen. Vaak wordt gezegd dat mensen die zoiets verschrikkelijks doen, wel gek moeten zijn. De auteurs laten echter overtuigend zien dat terroristen nu juist niet lijden aan een psychische stoornis. Vanuit een sociaal-psychologische invalshoek wordt aangetoond dat alledaagse groepsprocessen ook optreden in een een bijzonder soort groepen, namelijk terroristische sekten.
