Some rubbing and abrasion on binding. Previous owner's name on free front endpaper and at margin of title page. Moderate and sporadic browning throughout. Some worming at upper margin of last pages (not affecting text). Binding in overall fair, interior in good condition.

Small 4to, early 20th Century red morocco and marbled boards by Kelly and Sons, raised bands, gilt spine lettering and small ornaments in compartments, t. E. G. , marbled endpapers, (vii) 57 (iii) and 392, 375-382 (xxxii) pages including half-title, main portion of text with extensive pagination errors. Covers strong, quite good with brief wear and few tiny spots of scuffing. Text tight, minor aging and foxing, some dusting at few pages, one leaf missing chunk from fore-edge margin, early 18th Century ink ownership signatures on title page. Wing P3445. John Prideaux (1578-1650) was bishop of Worcester, and a notable teacher at Oxford; his son Mathias only lived into his twenties before contracting small pox, the elder published this after his death. The latter two works in this volume by Mathias Prideaux include: "Of Political History in General, deduced from Nimrod" (title page dated 1669); and "Of the History of Successions, in states, countries, and families" (title page dated 1670).
