Zustand: Very good. - The Scottish portrait painter Francis Grant's signature penned with the date onto 2-3/8 inch high by 4-1/2 inch wide creamy white paper: "Francis Grant / April 21 / 1869". The autograph is mounted with glue from the verso onto heavier stock. The corners are clipped and there is some slight darkening to the…top left corner. Very good. The Scottish portrait painter Francis Grant (1803-1878) was one of the hunting set at Melton Mowbray where he took the opportunity to study with the artist John Ferneley. He first acquired a reputation for his paintings of sporting subjects including a group of portraits of Queen Victoria riding with Lord Melbourne in Windsor Park. Also noteworthy is Grant's cabinet painting of Sir Walter Scott. A member of the Royal Academy, Grant was elected it's president in 1866.

Becket of Pall Mall in 1793 this is the stated third edition of this essay of English Constitutional History, 127 pages which is considerably expanded from the irst Edition which only ran to 75 pages. This copy bound in the original buff paper w…rappers with the half title page bound in, 8.5 inches tall approx., with its original owners name on the title page, Kenyon dated September 1793, this was Lloyd Kenyon, 1st Baron Kenyon PC SL KC (5 October 1732 - 4 April 1802), who was a British politician and barrister, who served as Attorney General, Master of the Rolls and Lord Chief Justice. the cover has some wear on rear with holes and staining along spine edge, this has not affected the contents, some noticeable page corner curling, occasional mild browning and foxing else contents in good general condition. A scarce work which was owned by Lloyd Kenyon, 1st Baron Kenyon. This provenance is highly significant; Kenyon was a towering British legal mind who served as Attorney General, Master of the Rolls, and Lord Chief Justice of England. A text dissecting the English Constitution would have been a direct working interest for the head of the King's Bench. the book originates directly from the estate of the Kenyon library at Gredington.
