The first volume of Pope Benedict XIV' most renowned work - De Synodo Dioecesana, which has been called 'the best work on diocesan synods' [Catholic Encyclopaedia]. De Synodo Dioecesana, a classic work, first published in 1748 after Lambertini's elevation to the papacy, is an adaptation, to diocesan administration, of general ecclesiastical law. Augustin Joseph Schulte in the Catholic Encyclopaedia called it 'one of the most important, if not the most important, modern work on canon law' 1100 grams.
