Both inscriptions are addressed to the Roman god Mars, but this etymological and historical discussion seems to indicate that there are Germanic elements mixed with the Latin.

Interior paper is toned with some foxing throughout, corners curled and bent, some chipping at the edges. The repair to the spine has left a section of the gray card on the inside front cover. Folding plates have some splitting at the folds but generally fairly sound. A good-/fair+ copy with nice provenance. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 40 pages.
