Red buckram, lettered in gilt to spine, institutional blind-stamp to rear cover. Contents clean, one neat 'withdrawn' stamp to free endpaper, small 'parcel' stamp to margin of index, no other marks within. Robust binding in fine condition, page edges with some dust marks. An unusual publication to find in bound form. Scarce thus. 'A monthly review of literature' featuring contributions from the above authors, including the first appearance of Ian Fleming's article on his friend and fellow thriller writer Raymond Chandler, who had died earlier that year. The piece contains transcripts of letters between the two like-minded authors. This copy is from Jon Gilbert's bibliographical archive of Ian Fleming, with his pencilled ownership signature. An exhibition held at the Grolier Club from 14 September through 19 November 2005, drawn largely from the Sylvia Plath Collection at Smith College and the Ted Hughes Papers and Library at Emory University.On the front free endpaper is the ownership signature of Frieda Hughes, the daughter of the two poets who were the subjects of the exhibition. She received this copy on the occasion of a celebratory luncheon where she gave a talk based on her memories. It is signed on the title-page by Stephen C. Enniss and on the half-title by seventeen attendees, most of whom seem to be Emory teaching staff or alumni. Loosely inserted is a print-out of two colour photographs of bears, together with a manuscript note by Frieda Hughes, explaining, ''The book designer saw a male and female bear in his garden as he designed the book - he felt this was a good omen. He gave me the photos at the Emory dinner on 13/9/05''. One can't help thinking that Ted Hughes would have agreed with the designer.Fine. No dustwrapper issued.…
