Soft cover. Zustand: Very Good. 223pp, with 133 plates (mostly full page & colour) and accompanying text largely in Italian, a few passages in French. A Very Good copy with clean text & plates, no inscriptions or labels, binding tight and just a single reading crease to the spine. The pictorial wraps display only modest surface rubbing, some edge-wear to tail of spine and just light wear to top corner tip. Please see five pictures attached for a closer look. Unbound. Zustand: Near Fine. Handbill. Measuring 5½" x 8½", printed in blue on recto only. Old horizontal fold (presumably as issued), just a bit of toning and wear at the edges, very near fine. An interesting piece of opera history. Pizzetti's "Assassinio nella Cattedrale" debuted in Milan on March 1, 1958, and was supposed to make its American debut at the close of the 1958 Empire State Music Festival near Bear Mountain, New York (just upstate from New York City). However, according to *The New York Times*, a major storm halted the performance and partially destroyed the tent it was being held in, bringing the festival, in their words, to "a disastrous close." Plans were apparently quickly made to restage it at Carnegie Hall for two performances, hence the handbill. The opera was also performed at the 1959 festival, and was well-reviewed by the *Times*. Printed on relatively thin paper and presumably a rare survivor.…
