(Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland), half-title almost detached, heavy browning to endpapers and prelims through… to first page of text, text-block unopened however with some outer uncut dusty, outer bottom corner tips slightly creased especially towards ends, worst to last two leaves and blank backing to rear cover which is creased, torn and chipped, some internal gutters slightly opening; rear cover is badlywrinkled and chipped at bottom corner, also slightly to top, front has handwritten 'Piorry' to top plus a small red disc label, spine has been reinforced with transparent repair tissue, despite faults covers are generally clean. Extremely scarce, not in Wellcome. Piorry most cited as a pioneer of percussive diagnosis, inventor of the pleximeter, and coiner of terms septicemia and toxin. This work is concerned with effects of housing conditions and arrangements on health. Despite poor quality of covers, dustiness, and corner creasing this, being entirely unopened and basically firm in its binding, remains a very acceptable copy of what is, presumably, a quite pioneering work on environmental health.

Interior is variably toned and foxed depending on the paper used for each volume, with some sections being very heavily impacted and some being comparatively light. Faint penciling on front free endpaper. Some scattered stains throughout. Fraying to end of ribbon bookmark. Shelved in Room A. 1409067. Special Collections.
