In den WarenkorbZustand: Very Good. This is the third of the four large, hand-colored lithographic map sheets from Vasquez's ornamental album, depicting the city of Pest. Including the surrounding images, the map measures 56 × 71 cm. From the early 19th century until the death of Palatine Joseph in 1847, the cityscape of Pest and Buda was transformed through large-scale urban planning and regulation works. The ornamental album by the Spanish-born engineer Carlo Pino Vasquez is a direct product of this spectacular era. The city districts are distinguished by inscriptions and varied coloring. The author illustrated the topography using hachuring, and indicated the types of land cultivation with colors and cartographic symbols. The German and Hungarian inscriptions highlight not only the streets and squares but also the major public buildings - mostly detailed down to their ground plans - as well as toll barriers and embankments. A particular merit of the map is that it captures the atmosphere of the city just before the devastating flood of 1838. Among the sections depicting Pest in greater detail, this item presents Ferencváros, Józsefváros, and the half of Terézváros extending up to Király Street, reaching as far as the outer city trench. The Inner City (Belváros) is visible in its entirety, though situated in the upper corner of the map. Each sheet is framed by smaller views and buildings considered significant at the time. Of the 16 framing images, two are panoramic views: one shows the section of the Danube bank between the Redoute and the Inner City Parish Church, including the pontoon bridge, while the other depicts the southern part of Pest as seen from the Danube. Also featured are the interiors of the Hungarian and German theaters. In his cartographic study, Fodor writes of it: "The beautiful ornamental album of Carlo Pino Vasquez holds a unique position in Hungarian cartography. Vasquez was not Hungarian, but of Spanish descent; however, he lived in Budapest and published his work in Hungarian. This is our first, and to this day unparalleled, ornamental cartographic masterpiece." In a passe-partout within a matching glazed frame. Already a rarity as a clean, undamaged specimen, it is made even more special by its beautiful, rich coloring, which reveals the touch of an expert hand.…

In den WarenkorbZustand: Very Good. This is the second of the four large, hand-colored lithographic map sheets from Vasquez's ornamental album, depicting the city of Buda. It is a pen lithograph by the Viennese artist Franz Weiss. The German and Hungarian inscriptions highlight not only the streets and squares but also the major public buildings - mostly detailed down to their ground plans - as well as toll barriers and embankments. A particular merit of the map is that it captures the city's atmosphere just before the devastating flood of 1838. On this second plate, the map detailing the section of Buda from Farkasrét to the banks of the Danube is surrounded by 22 illustrations, primarily depicting local buildings. These include the Óbuda Synagogue, the Main Church of Buda, the Rudas and Császár Baths, as well as historical views of Visegrád and Buda (as they appeared in 1490). In his cartographic study, Fodor writes of it on page 257: "The beautiful ornamental album of Carlo Pino Vasquez holds a unique position in Hungarian cartography. Vasquez was not Hungarian, but of Spanish descent; however, he lived in Budapest and published his work in Hungarian.
