Eight vintage black-and-white double weight still photographs from the 1949 UK release of the 1948 French film. Based on the 1934 novel by Gabriel Chevallier, about a little town conflicted by the construction of a public urinal, so the military intervenes to restore order, but the local women seem to be distracting them. Chevallier spent many of his holiday in the village of Vaux-en-Beaujolais, the cozy little vineyard town he used as inspiration for the novel. There are museums in Vaux-en-Beaujolais featuring Chevallier's personal archives, theatrical rides with characters from the novel, and even a urinal with fantastic panoramic views. A story set and shot in France. 8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus, with creasing to the extremities, a few tiny bruises, and 1 still with a tiny piece of cello tape.

Richard Wright accepted an offer to star as the leading man in the film adaptation of his own novel, after initial choice Canada Lee was stuck in South African customs after shooting "Cry the Beloved Country" (1951).
