However, in the Spring of 1951, Wilfred and Mabel manafed to tear themselves away and take a well-earned twelve days rest. This book is the result, and thousands of his fans will welcome this warm-hearted book. It is the story of that holiday, of how Wilfred and Mabel, away from the bright spotlight of fame, could enjoy a brief spell of privacy. Ranging over a multitude of memories and visits, Wilfred buttholes the reader with a trip to Stratford-on-Avon, his views on actors, recollectons of early days in Halifax, correspondents, and friends he has made from dukes to dustmen. The blunt Yorkshireman with the twinkling eye is at his lovable best in this racy yet sympathetic book.
