It begins: 'Gentlemen, | I should be wanting in every proper feeling of duty and respect to you and to the County of Lancaster at large, after what passed at the last General Election I were not to avail myself of the opportunity afforded me by Mr. Blackburne's address, of relieving the County from all suspence as to the part I amy be expected to take, whenever He (Mr. Blackburne) shall retire from your Service.' He is 'compelled by various circumstances to relinquish my pretensions of becoming a Candidate for the honor of being one of our Representatives in Parliament'. The first engraving (13 x 17 cm; dimensions of print 10.5 x 16 cm) is captioned 'OLD HALL, RUFFORD. | THE SEAT OF THOMAS HENRY HESKETH, ESQ. DEP.-LT.' The second engraving (same dimensions) is captioned 'RUFFORD HALL | THE SEAT OF SIR THOMAS DALRYMPLE HESKETH, BART.'.
