Together 3 pp. The letter from February 1964 was written to the art critic Roger van Gindertael, thanking him profusely for an article: "Je ne saurai assez vous remercier et vous féliciter de votre aimable texte. Vous avez parfaitement discerné la pensée qui m'a toujours guidé, et dans un style d'une trés grande élégance, vous avez analysé les différents aspects de mes préoccupations. Votre article, dont j'apprécie infiniment la clarté, me comble de satisfaction. Il est pour moi d'un réconfort inappréciable, tant par sa lucidité du monde plastique, que par sa très haute qualité littéraire. Croyez, cher ami à ma très vive gratitude [.]". Van Gindertael's monographic article on Jean Piaubert's work appeared in the London-based magazine "The Connoisseur" in 1964. - The charming postcard from 1954 was sent to Mr. and Mrs. Crespelle in Saint Tropez with greetings from the island of Crete: "Que cette charmante Crétoise vous apporte, avec la bénédiction du Minos, nos bien sincères amitiés". Piaubert's "charmante Crétoise" is a reference to the reproduction of the fresco of a "Minoan dancer" in the palace of Knossos on the picture side. - On stationery with embossed letterhead. Well preserved.
