A collaborative work between Phyllis Schlafly, a Conservative author and lecturer whose support helped Barry Goldwater secure the Republican nomination for President in 1964, and retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Chester Ward. The pair argues against nuclear disarmament by the United States, opining that such a policy would weaken America and encourage the USSR to attack. The debate was brought about as a result of the disarmament deal between the US and Russia in which Russia would dismantle under supervision the missiles in Cuba while the US would remove those in Turkey (the removal by the US was a secret part of the deal, not officially recognized for 25 years). The pair particularly target LBJ's Defense Secretary Robert McNamara. "The Gravediggers" was the first of other books the pair wrote on the subject.…
