Here is another book of Maritime History, this one titled: "Four Short Blaststhe Gale of 1898 and the Loss of the Steamer Portland," by Peter Dow Bachelder and Mason Philip Smith. This medium-sized soft cover book (9 ¾ x 7 ½ inches, 129 pages) was published by the Provincial Press of Portland, Maine, dated 1998. The book is well-illustrated with both vintage b&w photos and many drawings. Also, there are a series of newspaper clippings and other ephemera laid-in related to the loss of the Steamer Portland, New England's worst maritime disaster. The book is mostly text and a very compelling story at that; you won't easily put it down once you start reading. Condition: This book is in near fine condition. There are some faint signs of edge wear, nothing really significant. Inside, the book is unmarked and unblemished. The binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
