This work is British fiction writer Patrick Doncaster's second novel and his first mystery fiction novel. His first novel was the notable war-time piece entitled The Devil Held The Aces. This particular work follows Joe Casey, a newspaper reporter who is thrown into a work of mystery and murderous intent as he strives to find a "human story" for his paper. Doncaster draws on his own experiences working as a professional journalist in Fleet Street. In a striking dust wrapper by artist Peter Rudland.
