En este libro se ofrece un enfoque amplio pero, al mismo tiempo, muy concreto para ayudar a los profesores de ELE, en particular los profesores noveles, los estudiantes de maestrías de ELE y los participantes en cursos de formación, a integrar el trabajo con la prensa escrita en el currículum. El primer capítulo esboza un breve panorama de la prensa escrita en Hispanoamérica y España y proporciona abundantes datos para que el lector pueda orientarse en la materia. El segundo capítulo presenta la teoría de los géneros periodísticos (noticia, reportaje, crónica, etc.), esenciales para poder trabajar adecuadamente con la prensa. A continuación, el tercer capítulo habla de algunas características importantes del lenguaje utilizado en la prensa. Los principios y objetivos didácticos se tratan en el cuarto capítulo: la relación entre grupos meta y objetivos concretos, las diversas competencias, los niveles de dominio, etc. Finalmente, el último capítulo presenta un amplio abanico de propuestas didácticas, basadas en los conceptos presentados anteriormente, con las que el profesor de ELE podrá integrar y adaptar el trabajo con la prensa escrita en su trabajo diario. Todos los capítulos se cierran con tareas para el lector que pueden desarrollarse individualmente o en grupos para, de esta manera, contribuir a la formación de los profesores de ELE.
