Very Attractive Original Engraving Of Louis Xiv As A Young Man In Armor, Perhaps At The Age Of 20 Or 25, Which Would Date This Engraving Circa 1658 To 1663. Fine Detail In Background Of Heavenly Figures Above Casting Light Upon Louis And His Court Below. Four Lines Of Printed Text Below Portrait In Oval; Signed "P. Aubry Excud."; One Line Of Finely Hand Written Latin Beneath That. 5" X 6 1/4". Part Of A Large Collection Of Original Antique Engravings Formed By A Southern California Artist In The Early To Middle Twentieth Century. Each Plate Has Small Glue Marks On Reverse Where They Were Tipped In To An Album.
Bust portrait of admiral Michiel de Ruyter in an oval. On the bottom an inscription: "DEN E MANHAFTEN ZEEHELD. MICHIEL: / AD.R DE RUYTER vice Admir: van Holland &c.". Signed on the right: "P. Aubr ii excudit" l Engraving and etching on paper cut within plate mark and mounted on another sheet of paper; total: 148 x 101 mm.
