Volumes V and VI focus onthe Anyuak village and its physical, socialjudicial and political structures, and examinethe lively sphere of collective experienceunder a forceful leadership, which embodiesthe community's self-awareness. Volume VIIfocuses on the daily or seasonal activities ofthe Anyuak and investigates their economicand material values, in particular the socialaspects of labour, such as solidarity, sharingwithin the community and cooperation. Thebook ends with a chapter on art which illustratesthe Anyuak artistic self-awareness inall aspects of life.Volume VIII on the Anyuak History is thelast part of the monograph. The narrative inthis volume moves from mythological timesto the times of migration. It explains reasonsfor the separation from relatives and exploresthe process of settlement. The modernpart of history starts with the stories relatedby early travellers, describes the times ofslavery, the relationship between the Anyuakand their neighbours and provides documentson the impact of foreign governments and the consequences of the first and thesecondcivil wars in the Sudan.
