First Edition. frontis; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; Bound in a striking design of brown cloth with Japanese character "types" in white to the full surface of the cloth and title lettering in red a Japanese inflected font. Sound decent copy but with cloth at spine dulled and fading. Light shelf bumping to boards at corners and with crimping and pull to cloth at spine ends. Prior ownership bookplate of the Metzger Institute Library, a short lived women's college that was part of Dickinson College from 1881 - 1912. Small paper catalog labels at spine. Twi signatures mid-book sprung and starting at front edge. Author's recollections and memories of residence in Japan. Decent copy. G+.
