Edward Penfield, the American illustrator, was known as the Father of American Poster Art. Here on offer, however, is something a bit different which nevertheless would complement the collection of…a dedicated Penfield enthusiast. I am pleased to offer a very nice copy of: Spanish Sketches, by Edward Penfield. This medium-sized book (7 ¼ x 9 ¾ inches, 146 pages) was published by Charles Scribner s Sons of New York, dated 1911 and the First Edition. The book is bound in yellow cloth covered boards with bold black titles and decorations on cover and spine. The book is very well illustrated with 28 tipped-in color plates of various sizes and themes. The text pages are also very nicely presented, simple, bold and clean. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are a bit dust-dulled, rubbed and bumped but still presentable. The corners and spine tips have suffered a bit from this bumping. The spine is darkened from handling although the titles there are still fully legible. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages and color plates are clean, bright and handsome. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight, sound and square. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
