Dedica a stampa a Margherita Zorzi Marzari e a Camilla Cogolo Marzari, contesse vicentine congiunte dell'Autore. Leg. coeva in mezza pelle, dorso liscio con titoli e filetti in oro. Qualche segno d'uso e screpolatura al dorso, peraltro esemplare genuino e ben conservato. Prima edizione, rara. Al Marzari-Pencati (Vicenza, 1779-ivi, 1836), geologo e botanico assai noto e stimato, viene attribuita correntemente la dimostrazione (su ricerche condotte sul magmatismo triassico di Predazzo, in Trentino) del fatto che non tutte le rocce granitiche sono, come allora si usava credere, della più remota antichità geologica. Di notevole pregio le parti vulcanologiche del volume, riallacciantesi alle nuove dottrine scientifiche in materia. Il suo contributo geologico più significativo è legato allo studio del metamorfismo di contatto; infatti, la sua rivoluzionaria datazione del granito all'età post-Tricassica inferiore incontrò, in àmbito scientifico, una generalizzata ostilità, in modo particolare in Germania, soprattutto ad opera di Christian Leopold Von Buch, la cui autorità condusse i contemporanei - riluttanti a prendere posizione contro il geologo tedesco - ad ignorare le tesi dello studioso vicentino, che tuttavia trovarono in seguito il giusto credito, incrinando il dogma per cui le formazioni granitiche sarebbero necessariamente antichissime e mettendo in discussione alcuni punti della stratigrafia di Werner.
