Reverend Edward Payson (1783-1827), "graduated at Harvard in 1803, was then principal of a school at Portland, Maine, and in 1807 became junior pastor of the Congregational Church at Portland, where he remained, after 1811, as senior pastor, until his death on October 22, 1827. Hardcover. Zustand: Good. Miniature hardcover measuring approximately 3"x4.5"x0.75". Bound in a dark green cloth over boards with gold lettering on the spine. Cloth is worn, with stains/spotting. Cloth is starting to split along both sides of the spine, but there is otherwise minimal fraying/seperation. Both front and rear gutters are cracked, but the text block remains tight and secure with all pages present and attached. Corners are slightly bumped. Pages are toned throughout with foxing and spotting along the fore edge. Interior foxing is concentrated near the begging and end of the text block. Previous owner inscription on FFEP dated December 25th, 1917. 192 Crocker and Brewster. Title page is dated 1834. A good copy. Please email with questions or to request photos.
