A noirish adventure about Paul Vogel (Paul Henreid), a sadistic police inspector stationed somewhere in Africa, where he hopes to find a legendary lost diamond field. His only obstacle is jewel thief Mike Davis (Lancaster), who always evades Vogel's death traps. Corinne Calvet, in her American film debut, stars as the lone heroine, Suzanne.
