Book condition: very good for a book of this vintage, text in French, expanded by the author for this edition, handsomely rebound in full leather featuring five raised bands on the spine with gilt lettering and trim on the spine, date at spine tail is 1615 though date at bottom of title page is 1617, intricately detailed illustrations found at the beginning and end of some chapters with wonderfully drawn drop caps throughout, boards show light scuffing to all corners, back board shows scuffing to top, front and spine edge, overall very good condition, title page features an elaborate illustration as is darkened as all these pages are though text is quite legible, occasional spotting, a few pages at back have shallow indentations, overall very clean, binding tight, 994 pages followed by lengthy table of contents, 6.75 X 9.75 inches.
