I, 626: " Wurde für Deutschland auf Betreiben Herzog Ernst's I. vom Bundestage verboten". - Sehr seltene und mit verschiedenen Dokumenten und Biographien reich ergänzte deutsche Ausgabe der sensationellen "Memoires d'une jeune Grecque". Das Werk gilt als das erste Buch, das vom Deutschen Bund verboten wurde. Die junge Pauline Panam, Tochter eines aus Smyrna stammenden Griechen, war von Ernst I. von Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld geschwängert, dann aber verlassen worden. Während der Herzog die Anerkennung seines Sohnes und jegliche Unterstützung verweigerte, setzten sich dessen Schwager, der Grossherzog Konstantin und sogar Metternich für sie ein. Ernst dagegen versuchte sogar sie und das Kind ermorden zu lassen. Mit der Hilfe des Grossherzogs gelang Pauline die Flucht nach Paris, wo der Prinz Ligne sich ihrer annahm und öffentlich verkündete, es sei eine Zeit gekommen, in der auch Adlige nicht mehr über dem Gesetz stünden. Ihren Memoiren stellt er einen Brief voran, der für grosses Aufsehen sorgte. Vgl. Querard III, 20: "Scandaleux Memoires. commencent par une lettre du prince de Ligne qui a un succes fou. Der deutsche Übersetzer Kastendieck berichtet im Vorwort, wie er von der herzöglichen Familie in Coburg bei seinen Recherchen behindert, verfolgt und in den Kerker geworfen wurde, von wo er fliehen konnte etc. Die französische Ausgabe inspirierte Dumas für Teile seines "Grafen von Montecristo".
