Opening door Koning Willem II in 1845. Op de locatie waar nu de Bijenkorf staat. Men ziet de dam in de richting van het centraal station.Gebouw werd ontworpen door beroemde architecten Jan David Zocher en zijn zoon Louis Paul Zocher. Neoclassicistische stijl en empirestijl. In 1903 werd de Beurs van Zocher gesloopt en vervangen door de Beurs van Berlage, ontworpen door architect H.P. Berlage. De Beurs van Berlage is tegenwoordig een rijksmonument en een belangrijk voorbeeld van de Amsterdamse School-architectuur. Op de locatie van de voormalige Beurs van Zocher bevindt zich nu het iconische warenhuis De Bijenkorf, dat tussen 1912 en 1915 werd gebouwd. Het huidige gebouw is ontworpen door de architecten J.A. van Straaten en B.A. Lubbers en is nog steeds in gebruik als winkelpand.
