Signed, in print, "William Price, and nine hundred others, Quebec, July, 1848", against new tarifs issued by various Imperial and Provincial Acts on Salted and Fresh Provisions, Grain and Flour. The petitioners promoted a "Free Trade and Open market for these essential articles of food". William Price (1789-1867) was one of the most prominent businessmen of Quebec City.

He recommends the increase of the number of councilliors, the limitation of expenses, and rates of taxation in accordance with the commercial interests of the city.

Très rare pétition, datée du 14 avril 1963 et lancée par un groupe de pasteurs et de prêtres (premiers signataires : Francis Bosc, Georges Casalis, Jacques Lochard, Etienne Mathiot, Jean-Paul Meyer, Louis Simon, Jacques Walter, M. D. Chenu, Pierre Dabosville, Yvan Daniel, Robert Davezies, André Depierre, Marie-Jean Mossand, Louis Rétif) demandant la l'amnistie des Français emprisonnés pour leur solidarité avec la lutte pour l'indépendance algérienne, parmi lesquels "cinq jeunes hommes et femmes [leur] sont particulièrement proches : Gérard Meier, Jean-Claude Paupert, Jean-Jacques et Nicole Brochier, Claudie Duhamel". Exemplaire de l'un des cinq condamnés : Jean-Jacques Brochier, avec son nom inscrit en première page au stylo (l'inscription ne semble pas de sa main). Avant de devenir rédacteur en chef du Magazine littéraire (1968-2004), Jean-Jacques Brochier milita pour la cause de l'indépendance algérienne et fut pour cela arrêté en 1960 et condamné à dix ans de prison. La pétition est suivie d'une longue liste de noms (environ 750), parmi lesquels certains sont cochés à la mine de plomb, et suivie de deux textes courts. Il est probable que ce soit le prêtre ouvrier Robert Davezies, membre du réseau Jeanson, puis de celui d'Henri Curiel, et condamné à 3 ans de prison en 1961 pour cela (il fit un séjour de 15 mois à Fresnes), qui soit à l'origine de cette pétition. Petites taches à la couverture, bel exemplaire malgré tout.

Longue et intéressante supplique de prisonniers, se présentant comme d'honnêtes gens mis en prison à cause de leurs dettes et de l'édit de 1773 à un contrôleur général pour se plaindre de l'expulsion du concierge, Dinant du Verger, remplacé par un « homme ambitieux », le greffier Gurlier. Cette pétition est signée par 28 prisonniers dont aucun ne semble être connu : Carvalho (capitaine de cavalerie), Debar, Beaufils de ? (de Saint Flour), Mendes Duplessis, Lameynardie, Doumain(?) de Beauchamp, Reynaud, Du Fossé, B.H. Wallop (gentilhomme anglais), Du Fresne, Desmaisons, De Lagarenne, Bouchery, Bascaud du Sablon, Cretté, Bénézet, Cordelle, Le Foullon Duplessis, etc. La liste des personnalités emprisonnés dans cette prison est longue : Giacomo Casanova (1759), Fréron (1760), La Harpe (1760), La Clairon et autres comédiens de la Comédie-Française (1765), Sophie Arnould (1769), Sade (1771) ou Beaumarchais (1773). Slightly later manuscript note to rear. A petition to change the route of the proposed turnpike road into Selkirk from one running via Back Brae to a route running along Shaw Park. It has 198 signatures and per a manuscript note to rear, was ?read by A. Lang to the several{?] meeting of Road Trustees and prayer granted on 30 Dec. 1830?.
